Claire Louise Mather, the artist behind Colour Paper Stitch, creates sewn paper art inspired by the ever-changing moods of the Yorkshire landscape.
Each piece develops intuitively through a process of colouring, tearing, cutting and layering paper which is then secured with stitch.
Rather than representing a specific location, Claire’s imagined landscapes are deliberately open to interpretation.
Through multiple layers, lines, marks and colour, she hopes to create a view that feels personal or familiar inviting the viewer to place themselves within each piece and connect it to a landscape, location or memory of their own.
