Clay Sculpture – Monday AM from 25th September

This course is focused on the development of hand building skills in clay to produce sculptural works, of various scales. There will be focus on design /sketch book work to help develop creative thinking and support finished sculptures. Students will be encouraged to develop sketch / idea books on a week-to-week basis to help support their making ideas. Some slip work and underglaze work will be considered throughout the course where appropriate.

Firings can take time dependant on the scale of your work and how dry the work is – your works will only be fired once they are bone dry.
Your course tutor will discuss what is achievable regarding scale. Surcharges may apply if the size of work is excessive.

At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to rebook the next 6-week block – We cannot guarantee a rebooking slot, it will be on first come first serve basis.

We offer non-obligatory, additional sessions to discuss the colouring / glazing of works ready for second firing, these sessions will incur an additional fee to cover the cost of firing and glaze materials.

For health and safety and practical reasons we do not encourage any glaze / oxide during the wet clay sessions.

Our primary focus is to improve your quality of build and finish – quality not quantity!!

Please note:
We do not (currently) offer kiln hire for works made externally.
We do not cover plaster mould making or use plaster moulds on this course.
